Windmills, tulips, Delft blue and sailing ships are all part of my Dutch heritage and brought together in this design. I was born and raised in Hoorn in the Netherlands. A very old harbor city where the VOC was located. Not a great heritage, because of all the stealing, enslaving and killing we Dutch did for trading spices. But I did grow up with these exotic stories of sea battles and adventures and beautiful old ships. So I had to include one in my design. When I was 18 I moved to Delft for my Industrial Design study. I lived there for 9 years and I loved it. I lived near the Porceleyne Fles, where they created the Delft Blue ceramics. I have woven this all together with some tulips to create this intricate design.
